The center of Jargalant is located approximately 75 km south of Murun River and 714 km from the capital of Ulaanbaatar. It is bordered by Burentogtokh soum of its province to the west and northwest, Tosontsengel, Rashaant, east of Tsetserleg of Arkhangai province, and south of Galt and Shine-Ider soums.

An average elevation of 1790 meters above sea level. The highest point is 2556 m above sea level, low point 1148 meters above sea level. Total area is 252,172 hectares.
