Zereg is a sum (district) of Khovd Province in western of Mongolia. Dagva has been the first person to be named as Khundaga soum in the spring of 1995 in Zukhiin Bulag. From 1926 to 1940 it was named "Zereg Altanteel" and it became known as "Zereg Soum" in 1940.

Over 90 percent of the population is Zakhchin ethnic, and the rest are ethnic of Uriankhai, Khalkha and Tsaatans.

Zereg soum of Khovd province belongs to the Mongol Altai region of Altai mountainous region, in the Gobi region of the Great Lakes Depression. The mountains are a combination of the Gobi desert. Must, Tsetseg, Mankhan, Darvi and Chandmani soums. It is surrounded by Baatarhairkhan in the west and on the east is surrounded by the Bumbutkhairkhan mountain. The summit of the locality, Baatarhairkhan, Tsast Khairkhan, stands at a height of 4010 meters above sea level.
