Khovd

Khovd  is a sum (district) of Khovd Province in western of Mongolia. Khovd soum  was founded in 1946 in Bayan-Ulgii aimag and is transferred to Khovd province in 1955. 4834 people live in 739 households.

Khovd soum is  1200 hectares of land, 273 thousand hectares of pastures, 260 hectares of forest and 415 hectares of water.

The soum borders on the north-west of Bold and Deluun soum of Bayan-Ulgii province and Erdeneburen soum of Khovd aimag, and east of Myangad soum of Khovd aimag. Jargalant soum of Khovd province and southeast of Dovt and Buyant soum of Khovd aimag.

It has a cool summer and a cold winter. The average temperature in January is -30 ° C and the mean temperature in July is +35 ° C.
