Tariat is a sum (district) of Arkhangai Province in central Mongolia. Tariat soum center is called Khorgo and 166 km from and Aimag center. There are 1460 households, population is 5018 and 168927 heads of livestock (in 2011), with 7 bags of Terelj, Tsagaan Nuur, Khorgo, Suman, Buuruljuut, Murun and Althaad and total land is 4567 km2. Established in 1931 from the Chandmani-Ulziit Dalai Khosuu. The land of Tariat soum was formerly the Dalai Choinkhor Khosuu. The northern part is the Tarvagatai mountain range, the southern and eastern part is valley of Terkh and Chuluut river. Terkh, Chuluut, Suman and Khonjil rivers connects with it. The unique natural formations and exhibits of the land of Khorgo is a major tourist attraction in Mongolia.
