Altai is a sum (district) of Bayan-Ulgii Province in western Mongolia. Altai soum was established in 1959. 1034 households of 5 Bags - Khar-Nuur, Bardam, Ulaanhad, Shar Govi and Chikhertei - have a population of 3644. At sea level above 2148-3575 m. It is bordered by Buyant, Sagsai, Tolbo and Deluun soums of Bayan-Ulgii province and China. Total land area is 316356 hectares.
