The statue commemorating the first holder of Hero of Labor distinction, the veteran miner Damdiny Davaajav, was erected in 2000 by the design of sculptor L.Bold. The highest national peace-time distinction, the title of Hero of Labor was introduced in 1956 and a year later D.Davaajav became its first recipient.
