Gandan Muntsaglan Monastery

Gandan Muntsaglan Monastery

1997

This comparatively large monastery, about 300m north of the town square, contains a fine collection of scroll paintings (thangka), including one depicting the original monastery, which was destroyed in 1937. The current monastery was opened in 1991, and now has about 50 monks in residence. Visitors are welcome. To the left of the temple is a small shop selling religious items.
