Bayankhongor is home to beautiful Gobi desert located 150km out of the aimag center. Gobi sand dunes and Buutsagaan and Orog, the largest Gobi lakes surrounded by saxaul bushes stretch out from valleys across vast territory to the western border of Mongolia. The area offers habitat to rare species of Bactrian camels and central Khalkha herder families, which represent main attractions for tourists.
