About this place

Introduction to Yolin Am – Umnugobi Province

Yolin Am, meaning “Vulture’s Mouth,” is a stunning gorge located in the Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park in Umnugobi province, southern Mongolia. This narrow canyon, surrounded by towering cliffs, is famous for its dramatic scenery, unique rock formations, and icy riverbeds that flow through the gorge, even during the summer.

The area is a sanctuary for wildlife, including lammergeiers (bearded vultures), ibex, and snow leopards. Visitors can enjoy hiking along the gorge, exploring caves, and admiring the rich biodiversity and natural beauty of the Gobi Mountains. During winter, the frozen river creates a magical landscape of ice and snow, attracting photographers and adventure travelers.

Yolin Am is also culturally significant, as local nomadic families have lived in the surrounding valleys for centuries, maintaining their herding traditions. Travelers can experience staying in gers, tasting fresh dairy products, and observing daily life in the Mongolian countryside.

For nature lovers, adventure seekers, and anyone wishing to witness the unique landscapes of Mongolia, Yolin Am offers an unforgettable experience in the heart of the Gobi Mountains.

Nomadic Cultural Experience with Oyuungerel – Since 2015

Welcome to our traditional nomadic home in Mongolia! Since 2015, we have been welcoming travelers from all around the world to experience authentic Mongolian culture. My name is Oyuungerel, and I am an artist with a passion for traditional music. I play various types of Mongolian instruments and love to share our cultural heritage with visitors.

Our family runs a cozy coffee shop and a souvenir gift store, offering handmade crafts created by local artisans. When you visit us, you can enjoy traditional games like shagai (ankle bone shooting) and try your skills in archery through fun and friendly competitions.

You will also have a chance to wear beautiful Mongolian traditional clothes for memorable photo sessions and enjoy a small musical performance featuring unique folk instruments. Whether you are looking to learn, play, relax, or be inspired, we warmly invite you to discover the true spirit of Mongolia with us.
