About this place
Sevrei Soum – Umnugobi Province
Sevrei is a soum (district) in Umnugobi province, located in the heart of the southern Gobi Desert of Mongolia. It lies near the Gurvan Saikhan Mountains and is surrounded by vast steppe, rocky hills, and desert landscapes that create breathtaking scenery.
The area is well known for its nomadic herding lifestyle, where local families raise camels, goats, and horses, producing traditional dairy products such as camel milk and airag. Visitors have the chance to stay in a ger, experience daily nomadic life, and enjoy the hospitality of herder families.
Sevrei is also a gateway for adventure, offering camel riding, hiking in the desert, and opportunities to observe unique Gobi wildlife. The wide-open skies, colorful sunsets, and star-filled nights make it an unforgettable destination for travelers seeking both nature and culture.
