Ancient walls and open skies - Ongi ger stay
About this place
Our ger camp is located in the scenic Saikhan Ovoo area, near the sacred Saikhan Ovoo mountain and close to the Ongi River. The camp provides three daily meals included in the stay, ensuring you are well-fed throughout your visit. Each ger has comfortable beds with clean sheets, while hot showers and modern toilets are available in a shared building, centrally connected with reliable hot water. For those looking for a deeper cultural experience, guests can visit the nearby Ongi Monastery (Ongi Temple), founded in 1660 and once one of Mongolia’s largest monastery complexes. The ruins and restored sections, including small museums and memorials, provide a fascinating glimpse into Mongolia’s religious and historical heritage. Guests can also visit nearby herder families to enjoy traditional Mongolian dishes prepared on request, such as khorkhog and boodog, and have opportunities for horseback riding and exploring the steppe. The area is surrounded by nomadic herder families, offering an authentic experience of rural life in the heart of Mongolia
