Uzemchin

They are inhabiting with Khalkhs in Erdenetsagaan soum of Sukhbaatar province and Sergelen and Bulgan soums of Dornod province. Uzemchin is because of the name of fruit “uzem” (grape). According to the myth, the origin of the Uzemchins were living in the place where a lot of grapes.
In the 16th century, they moved from Inner Mongolia to Khalkh’s country and in 1637, after Manchu defeated the Khalkh Mongolia, they were split into 2 khoshuus – East Uzemchin and West Uzemchin.

In 1207, Uzemchins and Ujigeegs were united from Western to the Great Mongolia. Once upon time Uzemchins were living near to the Uzem’s Tsagaan Mountain having no place to step without the grape. They’d inhabited where they used to be since starting live with the Great Mongolians and Turbold, a son of Batmunkh Dayan Khan, decided to move them to the desert in the 15th century.

In the first half of the 17th century, Uzemchins moved again to the Kherlen River and lived under Khalkh Sholoi Setsen Khan, therefore, the leaders of Uzemchins led their people and immigrated to the current Shiliin Gol province of Inner Mongolia and settled there for 300 years. In 1945, the Republic Mongolia gave permission to some Uzemchins to settle down in Sergelen, Bayantumen, Bulgan, Kherlen and Chuluunkhoroot soums of Dornod province.
Uzemchin deel has a space between front of the collar and slope, long sleeves, a vertical collar and a disheveled skirt. A jacket is called “khajaar or janjaar” and the male jacket has onoo on the front, back, right and left side, following double fringes. Men usually wear the dukhai and zalaat hat while men everyday use short uuj, but long uuj only in special situations. Uzemchin women use a lot of silver accessories with expensive diamonds. Many coral accessories are attached on the forehead and they also use hair ger as any other ethnic women do. The upper side of the tuiv has the silver decoration with coral attachments. The big diamonds are usually used for necklace. They also prettify themselves by 5 colored leathers attached senj on the back. There are 2060 Uzemchin people in Mongolia.
