Bayandun  is a sum (district) of Dornod Province in eastern Mongolia. Founded in 1931. Bayandun soum is located in the forest steppe zone of Khan Khentii Mountain. The highest point is Khalun, located 1378 km north of the northern part of the country. Most of the area has steppe vegetation. Bayandun soum has a territory of 624.5 thousand hectares. It has a population of 2,936.
