Murun is a sum (district) of Khentii Province in eastern Mongolia. Resident population of Murun soum is 1,326.
Murun is located along the Murun River basin and has a vast area combined with suitable side gobi for cultivation. The Murun River was poured into the Kherlen River to the south of the soum center, but in recent years it has been threatened by global climate change and irresponsible mining.
